Fishing the Moose River & Moosehead Lake
In Rockwood, Maine
Fishing the Moose River Valley Sportsmen have always enjoyed the area for it's fine fishing in the largest lake in the State of Maine. You can either hire a guide or venture out on your own. Moosehead is known for it's landlocked salmon and trout fishing. Winter brings ice fishing and togue and cusk are caught then. There is an ice-fishing derby the weekend of March 8th...
Brassua Lake is nearby along with the East and West outlet of the Kennebec River. Smallmouth bass, brook trout and landlocked salmon can be caught in the Kennebec River. Access to the Kennebec River is roadside.
Fishing the Moose River is best in May and June. The smelts run up the river and the salmon follow. The Moose River average width is 180 ft.
The Moose River is stocked with landlocked salmon and wild brook trout.
Fall fishing is from August 16 to September 30th and is fly fishing only. Fishing improves in September when the water is cooler.
We can arrange a guide for you. Some provide all the equipment you need and the price ranges around $250 per day.
